Who's behind Vetted?
Vetted is an independent NYC veterinary price-transparency project from Bella Czajkowski, a Brooklyn-based health journalist who writes for MM+M (Medical Marketing + Media) and the mother of Wilson and Lou, pictured here.
It started in Fort Greene Park, in repeated conversations with other dog owners who were surprised, and often frustrated, by how unpredictable vet bills could be.
Vetted collects real veterinary bills, estimates and clinic prices from New York pet owners to show what common care costs, where prices vary and what questions to ask before booking. Personal identifying details are removed before any submission is used. Prices are reported as observed, with sample sizes, and Vetted does not rate or rank clinics.
